Bond It RAPID-FLEX – Flexible Floor Tile Adhesive Grey 20Kg
Suitable for all types of ceramic floor and wall tiles, including mosaics, porcelain, natural stone and vitrified tiles.
CE Approved: Conforms to EN12004 Type C2F.
Ideally suited for application onto timber panels, wood floors, plywood, composite boards and impermeable surfaces, such as existing quarry tiles, mastic asphalt and power-floated concrete without the need to include a flexi-additive in the mix. Also suitable for use in areas with limited movement or vibration including underfloor heating. Can be used internally and will set sufficiently to receive light traffic in approximately 2-3 hours.
The substrate must be clean, structurally sound and free from dust, oil, grease and any other contamination that
may prevent adhesion. It should also be strong enough to support the weight of the tiles being fixed. RAPID-FLEX
can be applied to dry or moist surfaces but moisture-sensitive materials must be dry and remain dry after
fixing. Porous gypsum, aerated concrete and interior asphalt substrates should be primed with products such
as Bond It PRIMER AND FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE. Concrete Brick and Blockwork: Ensure that these are dry and cured through. Freshly laid concrete can take up to 3 months to fully cure. Do not apply tiles until it is fully
Painted surfaces: Any loose or water sensitive paint should be removed. Any subsequent bonds to a painted
the surface is only as strong as the paint film.
Rough & Uneven Surfaces: These should be levelled with a suitable levelling compound and allowed to dry
Other Surfaces: RAPID-FLEX can be used on wooden floors, glazed surfaces and gloss/eggshell painted
surfaces. Existing timber floors should be overboard with 15mm exterior grade plywood rigidly fixed by screws
at 300mm centres. Non-porous surfaces, such as existing tiles or gloss/eggshell painted surfaces, should be primed with Bond It PRIMER AND FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE.
Tiled Surfaces: The surface of existing tiled floors or walls should be sound; any loose or hollow sounding
tiles should be made secure. When tiling over vinyl tiles, polish or other materials that will impede adhesion.
Provide a key by rubbing with coarse sandpaper and prime with Bond It PRIMER & FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE.
Underfloor Heating: When tiling on substrates incorporating underfloor heating, turn off 48 hours before
tiling and do not turn on for 48 hours after completion, from a low setting slowly increasing the temperature by
5C per day.
Anhydrite/calcium sulphate screeds: should be sanded and vacuumed before priming with 2 coats of Bond It PRIMER AND FLEXIBLE ADMIXTURE and left to dry for 24 hours prior to application.
20Kg of RAPID-FLEX should be mixed with 4L of clean water. Slowly add the powder to the water while stirring
with a suitable slow speed drill or paddle. Do not mix more adhesive than can be used within a 15 minute
period. In hot weather, the pot life will be reduced. Never add more water to a mixture that has begun to set.
How To Use
- Taking account of surface irregularities, use a suitable sized notched trowel that will give 100% coverage of
adhesive to the back of the tile.
- Press and twist the tiles into place ensuring a minimum bead thickness of 3mm.
- For deep studded tiles, large format tiles or for wet areas, it will be necessary to butter the back of the tile
with adhesive to improve adhesion.
- Remove and inspect the back of a tile occasionally to ensure adequate bedding is being achieved.
- Expansion joints must be provided according to the relevant part of BS5385.
- ‘Dot and Dab’ is not a recommended method of application.
- The final set will occur after approximately 2 hours
May commence approximately 2-3 hours after fixing.
Coverage is dependant on application technique, substrate and type of tiles used. However, 20Kg of RAPID-FLEX will cover approx 6 – 7m2 @ 3mm bed thickness.
